3 Neltex Solutions for Major Pipeline Issues

You know you are in the Philippines if a major road excavation which occurred just a few years ago is once again under construction. And you know you are in Metro Manila if the street corner you live near-by is currently dugged-up for pipeline fixing. :)  In fairness to the government, it is good that they are exerting efforts to improve services for Filipinos.

But have you really asked yourselves, or the government for that matter, why they keep on digging and fixing pipelines from the underground? This valid concern which escalates traffic problems, among others, is a big question for most Filipinos.

Major Pipeline Issues

Being a young couple who dreams of having our own home someday, my wife and I visited the Worldbex exhibition last weekend at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

One of the booths which caught our attention was the Neltex Pipelines booth. There, we realised that most of the pipeline problems mentioned above are caused by low-quality pipes and the changing requirements of modern times and climate change.

The first answer is actually more political in nature so we’ll leave it at that. However, the latter reason have affected the requirements expected from the pipeline industry.

With more than 20 typhoons coming into the Philippines per year resulting to flooding and storm surges, unnecessary pressure  on water and electrical pipes underground are taking its toll.

The Philippines today has about 100.6 million in population as of March 2015. The density of the population alone, specially in urban areas like Metro Manila, has simply went beyond the capacity the old pipelines were meant to serve.

But don’t despair just yet! According to Neltex, there is still hope. :) We learned from that visit that Neltex Development Corp continues to develop pipes that offer solutions to major pipeline problems in the Philippines.

1. PVC Neltex Pressureline Pipe

Pipe Leakage is one of the most common problem caused by poor jointing and loose gasket resulting to non-revenue water and system loss. This is usually caused by improper pipe fitting due to conventional installation and non-secure working conditions.

To minimize this issue, the PVC Neltex Pressureline Pipe is delivered on-site ready with machine-installed fixed seal for the joints to eradicate leaks caused by human-error in jointing.

2. PVC Neltex Sewerguard Pipe

For the unfamiliar, the traditional sewer pipes in the Philippines going out of our homes go through concrete pipes. This is the same pipes where flood water goes through. Yes, unlike in developed countries where flood water and waste water go through different pipes, in our country, they are shared by one and the same.

The problem here is that these major infrastructures constructed decades ago can no longer adapt to climate and environmental changes. These reinforced concrete pipes can be corroded by the hydrogen sulfide present in waste water.

In addition, creating a straight connection of one-meter heavy concrete pipes can be a challenge leading to less than ideal results. With concrete pipes jointed in uneven slopes, water could not flow as fast as in smoothly straight pipes where clogging can occur.

The good news is that the PVC Neltex Sewerguard Pipe is six-meter long, flexible, and lightweight! And as for the corrosive chemicals, Neltex pipes are chemical-resistant!

Furthermore, it comes with a Sewerlock Seal that ensures faster installation and less jointing. How about that for less road construction  and pipe-laying time plus less traffic mayhem!

Underground electrical cables, anyone? Yes, those unsightly electrical cables hopping from one pole to the next is slowly finding its way below the ground in new real-estate developments; just like in developed countries. This urbanisation technique requires that electrical cables should be contained in pipes too

These electrical pipes are usually installed beside water pipes so it is practically necessary for these pipes to be highly durable, non-corrosive, water tight, and air tight as well.

Neltex meets addresses these requirements with its impact-modified PVC Powerguard Pipes joined together by a fixed seal technology called the Powerlock. This renders the pipes to be 100% waterproof and air tight.

So, what can you say about the muscles of these Neltex PVC Pipes? A solution made to address each pipeline issue. Yes, NEltex pipes are one of the highest-priced pipes in the market today. But they come with a 50-year warranty!

And if I will use a half-priced piping option that will last me for about 10 years only, then I will have the same cost with replacement and repair for only about 20 years. In effect, I save more than 50% with Neltex. You call that investing in quality!
