Etobee Philippines Same-Day Courier Review
In a country where about 99% of the business industry is composed of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), small-scale delivery logistics services is very much needed.
As a fellow business owner of a small-scale social media marketing agency called Digital Circles Asia, our product delivery needs for clients and bloggers are supported by major logistics providers LBC, 2GO, JRS Express, and minor players Xend and Fastrack, among others.
And more recently, with the rise of start-up mobile-technology-based companies, we hear new brands like GrabExpress, and the feature of this article – Etobee (more specifically, Etobee Philippines).
Etobee Philippines
Etobee is an on-demand same-day urban professional delivery service which provides instant access to deliverymen that picks-up and delivers packages through a smartphone application with online tracking. The process covers from your doorstep to any point in the ten biggest cities in the Philippines up to 9pm at night.
Etobee Review
I was supposed to try the Etobee Mobile Application last March 2016 but I had to go through a first-timer’s learning curve and eventually gave-up after a few tries.
So when I opened the application again today, my phone prompted me to “update” the app, and so I did.
It seems that they have improved since then as it was more of a breeze booking for the courier service today; and so I did.
Here is a step by step guide on how to book through the Etobee Mobile Application:
How to Book through Etobee Philippines Mobile App
-
Open Application & Select “Book Now“
- If you don’t have the Etobee Mobile Application yet, you can download it from Google PlayStore on Android or the Apple Store on iOS.
-
Enter Pick-Up Location & Drop-Off Location
- Make sure your phone “location” setting is open to detect your smartphone GPS.
- If your pick-up address and delivery address are not exactly in the map, you can choose the nearest landmoark or location and just put your exact address as “notes” which the driver will eventually see.
-
Choose “Bike” or “Van” or “Truck” & Select “Pick-Up Now” or “Pick-Up Later“
- For my first transaction, I chose “Pick-Up Now” and the driver arrived within 30 mins to 1 hour since he came from Cubao and we are at North QC.
- I haven’t tried “Pick-Up Later” but I guess this is the one which can extend upto the “next day” delivery.
- After this, you will be shown the estimate range of “charge” for your delivery. You will know the exact amount from the driver when he arrives.
-
In the Delivery Details, choose to PAY in “Cash” or “Promo“
- I made my first mistake of choosing “cash” since I still have a P300 credit balance being a first time user. As indicated, I paid in cash. I can always use my credit next time, anyway. Choose “Promo” if you have a future promo code or if you want to use your credits.
- If you want to get a P300 credit, you can use my referral code “ZIN6Jw” so we both get P300 credits.
-
Wait for the Delivery Personnel and hand-over the product + Payment
- Theoretically, it should be as simple as handing the items/good to the driver and paying the appropriate fees.
-
Track Your Delivery
- Through the Etobee Mobile App, track you delivery until it is delivered to the destination which you can still see in the map as he arrives to the target destination.
- You would also get an online notification; after which you can rate the delivery personnel.
Etobee Issue & Recommendation
Step number 5 (#5) above is the point when I realized that the exact fee amount is no where to be found on my Etobee Application on my smartphone. I asked the driver and the P216 total charge (for 16km+) is indicated in his “Driver Application“. To be safe about it, I asked for permission to take a photo of it (shown here below).
I would just like to suggest to Etobee that it would be better if the amount is also shown on the customer application side. This would avoid any issues on possible dishonest overcharging for other future cases, if any. We hope to see this update in the application in the near future.
More about Etobee
Aside form individual entrepreneurs and retailers, big businesses can also partner with Etobee which can integrate their TMS (Transport Management System). When integrated, the system can track your driver’s position and performance and result to increased efficiency for business operational performance.
