My Pleasantly Surprising Novuhair Salon Experience

I was recently invited by a friend from Novuhair Philippines to try a salon experience at the Fanny Serrano Salon near Timog in Quezon City.

Without asking much about the details as I trust my friend, I concurred and went to the salon last week on the agreed time. But of course, I did expect a haircut and some introduction to Novuhair as a product.

There was an initial analysis of my hair using a scanning device/machine from Novuhair which zoomed in into the scalp and I can see this on the visual monitor in real time. I was told (and I can see) that I have an oily scalp (despite taking a bath and shampooing before going to the venue; that is how oily I am).

Hair-health wise, this means I am more susceptible to hair loss as the oils can clog the follicles preventing new growth of hair. On the other hand, they were still able to find some ‘baby hair‘ on my scalp which means there are still new ones that grow.

Personally, I have been battling with thin hair even as a teenager. I think this is also partially caused by my genes as my father have thin hair too. But at age 69, my dad has still a good amount of hair for his age. Where as I, at the age of 39, is definitely more problematic as I have slightly thinner hair than my dad.

After the analysis, and to my surprise, my hair was applied with Novuhair Lotion before having my haircut procedure and shampoo.

The grooming staff at the Fanny Serrano Salon said that this is a good practice since they were also massaging my scalp after applying the Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion. It went on for about 5 minutes and they had it rest on my scalp.

I am actually familiar with the brand and has used the lotion at least once in the past few years. But due to procrastination and our Filipino “ningas cugon” mentality, I wasn’t able to continue it for long.

Use Novuhair Effectively

Aside from the haircut, I also had a good chat with sir Jun where he shared his own experience in using Novuhair and how this helped his thinning hair condition too. In fact, he sometimes uses it to style his hair as Novuhair can act as a hair holder as well.

Once you got to try the product, you’ll see that it hardens the roots of your hair a bit when it dries – so it somehow works similar to a hair wax.

After my haircut, this time as expected, my new ‘do was applied with the Novuhair Topical Scalp Lotion as a leave-on.

Leaving this on your hair, and even overnight, can give your scalp more time to absorb the medicine, and in turn makes it work most effectively.
