Enduring the Uncertain

Dear Covid Survivor, you are not alone. You have loved ones to live for. Count your blessings, take a deep breath, and cherish every chance you get to do so.

Dear Covid Survivor, you went to war and came back victorious. Your fight was not in vain. There is a reason you are still here – why you survived.

The pandemic caught us by surprise…

Dear Covid Survivor, cry if you want to, cry if you need to. Because those tears mean you can still feel. The virus has not made you numb. It might have taken a part, but not your whole.

Dear Covid Survivor, your bruises have now turned  into scars. It has made you stronger and ready for what is ahead. You are stronger than ever.

Dear Covid Survivor, your fight continues. There’s no saying the Covid-19 disease will end anytime soon, if at all. For all we know, it will be part of our everyday life, our next normal.

Dear Covid Survivor, you are now able to empathize. A survivor has something to give to their fellow, knowing what they went through. Use that privilege, use that gift.

Going through Covid-19 is not easy; hanging between life and death. But then we fight – for ourselves and our loved ones.

Dear Covid Survivor, our health workers rejoices with you. Your breath is a living testament of their victory as well; a proof of mankind’s fighting chance against this dread.

Dear Covid Survivor, face the new sun of tomorrow, not only as a symbol of hope, but because you literally need it – that’s organic vitamin D, right? Kidding aside, the continuation of your journey may not be as bright. There will be people who will cast on you shadows of doubt, prejudice, and bias. But do choose to face the Sunshine instead.

Dear Covid Survivor, be a harbinger of vaccine inoculation; to protect others and prevent them from going through the same breath-gasping experience. Make your statistic matter.

Then we also realize those who matters most, and those who cared.

And lastly, to the survivors-who-never-were, your struggles were not in vain, as your memories live on with your beloveds. You may not be able to read this anymore, but they can. Your love survives in their hearts.

Dear Covid Survivor, having gone through all of these, enduring the uncertain is not enough. You have to brave it! Be an inspiration to others. Make your continuance meaningful.

Dear Survivor, dear self, take heed!
