The Joy of Printing Memories

In this digital age where we take a photo of almost everything we see and even the food we are about to eat, the shots simply stay in our smartphone after we share it online in our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts.

In time, it gets pushed down in our timeline and we move on to our next shot. Almost rare are the days when our parents print our family photos and life milestones to be kept in an album.

To Print or Not To Print

Have you thought about what kept Filipinos from printing? As mentioned above, the digital advancement may have led people to skip printing and just share it on their social media accounts. But you can still print it afterwards even you’ve aready shared it online, right?

Some says it’s because the cost of printing in the Philippines is high. A basic 4R printing fee can range from Php 4.00 and up. I say that’s actually a good price already. So what keeps Filipinos from printing casually?

The Joy of Printing Memories

YKL Color, Inc., a FUJIFILM distributor, thinks it’s the process. Printing photos in the Philippines is usually boring. You give your files to the printer and have it printed. For photo albums, you’d have to come back the next day for it to made. You receive the album, pay, and go home.

With the aim of putting fun in photo printing, FUJIFILM Philippine and YKL Color recently launched Wonder Photo Shop at the Ayala-U.P. Town Center. Being the number one country that loves to take photos, the Philippines was an easy choice for the famed photographic brand to launch it for the first time in Asia.

We believe that we can show the Filipinos the excitement in capturing memories and bringing their memories to life by printing their photos,” says Yu Tung Tung president of YKL Color, Inc.

Wonder Photo Shop

A fun, enjoyable, multi-pronged experience is what awaits the public at the first Wonder Photo Shop in the Philippines.

Part store, part print center, and part workshop hub, Wonder Photo Shop-Tokyo in U.P. Town Center is a one-stop boutique and learning center that offers an array of products and services:

  • Selfie Studio – where customers can delight in taking and printing complex photos;
  • Printing Services – with high-quality professional paper
  • Photobook Service – photo albums, yay!
  • WPS (Wonder Print Station) Kiosk Printer – provides a variety of quick photo printing
  • Photo Accessories – such as washi tapes, fancy photo albums, photo frames and stickers
  • Fujifilm Instax – and more digital cameras.

My favorite is the Selfie Studio where me and my wife got some “selfie” shots, not with a smartphone, but with a DSLR camera and a clicker tandem.

Selfie Generation

According to Fujifilm, Filipinos are a sentimental lot. They love chronicling moments in their lives spent with family, friends, and loved ones. They take pleasure in looking at and sharing to the world snaps taken during a child’s graduation day, an office outing, a relative’s birthday, their many travels, a dinner date with one’s spouse. These photographs serve as mementos that remind us of days well spent, challenges met head-on, friendships forged along the way. And nothing beats having these memories printed bursting with colors on vivid prints.

The shop closely resembles the two-year-old Wonder Photo Shop in Tokyo. It is almost the same except that there are more printing options at Wonder Photo Shop in Manila. Customers can print on different materials like glass, cork boards, sintra boards, wood boards and canvasses. There are also the much-anticipated complex prints.
