Meeting renowned Filipino American businesswoman Atty. Loida Nicolas Lewis for the first time, was a pleasant experience.
It was a few days ago – at the Philippine release of her newest book – “Look Younger When You’re Older – No Botox, No Surgery (Philippine Edition)” through Anvil Publishing, held at the ACG Lounge in Quezon City.
While the book’s online launch and nationwide selling at National Bookstore started just last month, it already earned its way into the top-selling category. After hearing her story at the event, the media Q&A, and knowing her on some personal level, I am not surprised anymore.

Loida Nicolas Lewis Releases New Book on Aging Gracefully
‘No Shortcuts to Looking Younger’
She came up with the idea for her newest book while she was on her promotional tour for her memoir, “Why Should Guys Have All the Fun? An Asian American Story of Love, Marriage, Motherhood and Running a Billion Dollar Empire.” (Wiley, 2023).
Atty. Loida, who had previously toured the book all over North America, Europe and the Philippines, said, “While I was promoting my book, I was met with shock and awe every time I revealed that I am 80. I have been so frequently asked about what it is that I do differently that makes me look the way I do and have the energy that I have at my age.”
The realization that people yearned to hear about her “secrets” and “tips” to looking and feeling young inspired her to document her own self-care rituals, habits and daily practices that keep her healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually – an effort that culminated into the making of her third book, “Look Younger When You’re Older – No Botox, No Surgery.” It is subtitled as such as the author herself had gone on record for never having undergone surgery, fillers, botox and other cosmetic procedures on her face or body.
Pressed for her secret to looking young, she exclaimed that there’s ‘no shortcuts to looking young‘. It’s a mix of the physical and the spiritual, pointing out that’s they are ‘two sides of the same coin‘.

Dedicating the book to her five grandchildren, as well as all her grandnieces and grandnephews, she hopes that by sharing her wealth of wisdom earned through the years, readers – particularly from early adolescence to pre-senior age groups – can learn and apply a couple of things, if not the whole book, to their own practices and daily routines. “This book is for those who are seeking ways to truly give the kind of care to themselves that make for long, healthy and joyful lives,” she continued.
Also a lawyer, author, and philanthropist, Atty. Loida thrilled fans during her book signing earlier this month at National Book Store in Shangri-La Plaza Mall. Guests enjoyed exclusive discounts, fun goodies, and a memorable meet-and-greet with the author.
Loida Lewis’ Personal Daily Starter
Sharing some snippets of her personal daily routine, she revealed that upon waking up at around 6 ‘o clock in the morning, she would immediately start her ‘zen‘ sessions comprised of counting 1 to 10 while listening to her mind, taking her time in this solemn meditation.
This would be followed by a casual ‘journaling’ of what made her happy or what made her sad, which she considered ‘writing to God‘.
For breakfast, she takes it light, as she admitted to being of age. But she recommends eating as much as you can if you are younger and working, while watching your weight.

At the ACG Office of Mon Abrea: Filipino American Philanthropist and Author of “Why Should Guys Have All the Fun?” – now in her 80s – shares her wealth of wisdom on how to look and feel younger at any age.
