Mutlipy Closing

Mutlipy Closing

I’ve been a Multiply.com user since March 28, 2006. Six years later, the original Multiply is saying goodbye as well in a somewhat similar manner the way Friendster bade goodbye a few years ago.

However, Multiply is not shutting down. As per Multiply CEO Stefan Magdalinski, it’s more of shifting their “business focus on expanding its e-Commerce….shopping & selling.” They will be removing the social networking features starting December 1, 2012, as announced a few months ago to give users and account owners time to download their photos.
If you can still remember, Friendster accommodated the same scheme of having their users download their photos before changing into a gaming site. Until today, there are users requesting and asking on how to get their missing photos on Friendster.

How to Download Multiply Photos

To avoid the same mistake, better download you Mutiply photos now before December 1, 2012. Mulitply has made it easy for us as well by providing export tools to help you migrate photos, videos, and blogs into your computer or to other platforms such as ‘Blogger‘ and Tumbler.
  • Step 1: On the right side bar of your multiply account below your account photo, you will see the “Download Media” and other links.
  • Step 2: Upon selecting “Download Media,” you will be redirected to this page where you can add plug-ins to your browser to make your task easier. Otherwise, you can click on your photos one by one and decide which to download.
  • Step 3: Follow the Instructions. I downloaded the DownloadThemAll Firefox plug-in and went back to the page. Made a right click and selected the DownloadThemAll option. I downloaded almost 3000 hi-res photos in one hour.

I just remembered that I used Muliltply as the repository for exporting my Friendster photos when the old Friendster closed. Now I’m doing the same for Multiply. It’s quite funny. I guess that’s how it’s going to be after Facebook came into the picture; or until the next big thing in social media. By then I would have to know where I should export my Facebook photos into. :P

Multiply will still be here, but as a website focused on online shopping and e-commerce. Kudos to Multiply.com and their move to specialize. You have barely 2 days remaining to download you Multiply photos!
