Scandinavian Design Impresses on 2016 Philippine Furniture Trends?
I haven’t been to Europe. And if you ask me back in 2013 what Scandinavian Design is, I wouldn’t have a clue (it sounds classy and sophisticated though, lol).

However, recently, I was acquainted with Innovation, a Danish brand of sofabeds which opened their first dedicated store in SM Megamall in November 2014, just a bit over a year ago.
Aside from its functionality and quality aspects, it employs a Scandinavian design led by Danish architect Per Weiss who is responsible for concept, design and marketing of the collections.
Here, I came to know that the term represents a design movement since about the 1930s related to modernism which made its way to Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland (5 Nordic countries). Its core aspect is all about minimalism. or simplicity, while remaining functional.
But that was from the late 2014. They recently opened a new store at SM City North EDSA, a sign of a growing demand from the market. You can still find them at SM Megamall, though. Check out our own Innovation sofabed at home.

100 West Condominium
And most recently, a friend invited us to visit the showroom of the upcoming 100 West Makati Condominum rising at the prime location along Gil Puyat / Buendia Avenue near Washington street. It’s a mixed business and residential condominium / building in Makati.
And guess what, 100 West Condominium also offers a fully-furnished unit employing a full Scandinavian-designed home interior from the furniture to the layout aspects of the whole unit. This includes sofa beds, dining tables, and beds utilising a minimalist design, upto functional sliding bedroom doors, to save precious condo living space and practicality purposes. If only I have millions of pesos for the pre-selling rate.
