5 Insights from the Digital Influencers Marketing Summit 2014

The 2014 Digital Influencers Marketing Summit was held last September 13, 2014 at the SMX Convention Center beside SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. It was a Saturday full of insights from some of the Philippines’ leading digital marketers led by organizer and industry leader Ms. Janette Toral of Digital Filipino.

It was the 2nd #DIMSummit I attended and I’m not getting tired listening to and gaining new insights from its notable speakers.

On its 3rd year, the Digital Influencers Marketing Summit Manila aims to empower entrepreneurs, marketers, and advertisers on working with influencers and brand advocates.

I would like to share five (5) insights from the DIM Summit 2014 which struck me most as a digital marketer of Digital Circles:

1. Go Global

Top blogger Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet opened the discussions with his challenge for everyone to expand their influence outside of the Philippines into the ASEAN region, and if attainable, the world.

Since the digital space is not limited by geographical locations, why not, right? Even my start-up digital marketing agency have .aisa for its domain extension. :P

2. Create an Experience

It is my first time to hear fellow blogger and digital marketer Apple Allison Perez of Sole Searching Soul speak.

I was dazed listening to her fresh self-labelled “probinsiyana” insights. One of her focus message was to infuse creating an experience in digital campaign specially when tapping bloggers. These experiences will eventually become the writers’/bloggers’ story.

Because of her, I am looking forward to go to Daet soon through her “Date in Daet” local tourism program.

3. Real Connections are made with both Online and Offline Engagements

Industry-mover Rosario Juan is one of my all-time favorite speakers when it comes to social media.

So I wasn’t surprised when she shared her insight that real connections are not made in the online platform alone. Combining it with offline meetups and interactions add up to much value in the relationship.

As one of the founders of @TweetUpMNL, you know she walks the talk.

4. Age Doesn’t Matter in Digital Marketing

Jonji Gonzales shared his quest on how he started TenMinutes.ph after having realized how much his children were engaged in social media.

Despite being a non-techie, he pursued his passion despite his age and succeeded in proving that it’s never too late to go digital.

5. Everything is measurable in #Digital

Mannix Pabalan of Hashtag Digital hit the mark when he shared that in digital marketing, “everything is measurable“. This was his response to an audience question when asked to compare digital with traditional advertising.

Rianna Roces-Trinidad of ThoughtBuzz further drove the point with her interesting and data-rich presentation on industry statistics about fast-moving consumer groups. I’m really looking forward to use Thoughtbuzz’s digital tools soon!
