Breaking Barriers: Converse Fall 2014
The Converse sneakers certainly broke the barrier of a ‘shoes”encapsulating definition. Converse is all about style and attitude; it’s not just about how you wear it, but how it fits your lifestyle.
And for the Converse Fall 2014 collection, be it a Chuck Taylor All Star, Cons, or Jack Purcell, Converse made sure there is a sneaker for you.
“America’s Original Sports Company”™ recently released its new Fall 2014 collection with a display of style at their Philippine-Ortigas headquarters as attended by celebrities, fashionistas, and tri-media.
All-Star Collection
The classic All-Star is undoubtedly the most dominant Converse line in the Philippines for its casual and ragged get-up that fits the Filipino spirit.
For this season, Converse opted for a monochromatic assemblage with new profiles and elevated detailing which can endure rainy days and mud pits. While staying true to its vintage theme, the collection highlighted distressed washes and contemporary graphic prints.
Fitting the Philippine rainy season, the Chuck Taylor All Star rubber is water resistant due to its French terry lining with a rubber upper. Add to that a gusseted tongue and brass eyelets.
Among those which caught my eyes were the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 Woven in varying colors, both in high and low cut.
A crowd hit was the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Combat Boot with a rubberized toe and heel. Solely offered in color black, it is armed with a double overlay eye row, larger opened collar, tongue zipper, and extra-long laces.
All-Star Premium
Taking center stage was the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star premium line. It brought back its collaboration with legendary rock band, Black Sabbath, and iconic contemporary menswear designer, John Varvatos.
The Converse by John Varvatos All Star Multi-Eyelet has a resin coated textile treatment and washed down print. It’s the sneakers for those who would prefer lighter selections and a more vintage feel.
On the other hand, the Converse by John Varvatos One Star was inspired from the original One Star silhouette.
The new prints and fabrications reflected the distinct strong personality of Varvatos. Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Black Sabbath displays iconic photos and album artwork.
Cons Sneakers and Apparel Collection
The second set of collection is marked by the Converse Cons Weapon Skate. This skateboarding sneaker promises enhanced durability and comfort through its special sockliner, perforated memory foam and gusseted tongue construction.
For the athletic ones, the CONS Weapon combines sports-inspired street wear with tech innovation, varying in classic colors and notable design elements from the original iconic CONS silhouette. It has now a bold logo on the tongue, and signature Y Bar, and an internal Y bar for comfort.
It takes pride with its drop-in Lunarlon sockliners which provide light and plush cushioning and a mesh underlay on hallmark Star Chevron.
It also has the CONS Traction Rubber with perforated memory foam to improve grip and durability and to avoid the ankle from obtaining a snug performance.
Furthermore, the CONS Malden Racer, CONS Malden Arctica, CONS Pro Leather, and the CONS KA-II by Converse Skateboarding Ambassador Kenny Anderson cemented the CONS sneaker style.
The collection was also complemented by the Converse CONS apparel collection with its sports-inspired outwear with graphic bold prints fitting street culture. I love the mixed-media hoodies and quilted shirt jackets
Jack Purcell Collection
Classic Shapes, versatility, and elemental textures defined the new Converse Jack Purcell Footwear Collection.
It’s leather-love from the new Converse Jack Purcell Cross Stitch which is an upgraded classic Jack Purcell but now comes in sophisticated leather. Available in various dark hues, it strikes with a new blue Jack Purcell stitching on the tongue and square wax cotton laces with brass eyelets. It also now pays more attention to details, evident with its cross-stitch designs.
The Converse Jack Purcell Ox, om the other hand, comes in lighter colors of Wild Honey, Terrarosa, and Old Silver selections. It has a brushed textile upper with a tight, waster-resistant weave for the cold days. It also sits on a comfy cork bed with the signature Jack Purcell blue bottoms and smile toe cap.
The Converse Jack Purcell Mid, with its mid-sneaker style and aluminum eyelets, employs a cork foot bed along with the Jack Purcell signature blue bottom.
Interestingly, it is the Converse Jack Purcell Split Tongue which caught my fancy with its water resistant textile and rich leather perfect for the rainy and flood season.
The launch of the Converse Fall 2014 was also graced by a number of celebrities including Maricar De Mesa, the Cojuangcos, and bloggers Vern and Verniece, among others, earlier this month.
106 years since its first inception, Converse Inc. has continuously pushed the boundaries with its rich heritage of producing legendary sneakers that has stayed relevant in the industry of footwear and fashion. Check out media.converse.com and know more about Converse Fall 2014 collection.
