May 31, 2011 – this is the day we never thought would happen to the first social network which revolutionized the idea of social networking years ago – Friendster.
But as they say, nothing lasts forever and things will eventually come to an end.
Once a social media giant, Friendster has formally announced a month ago that it will be stopping its social-networking-related services and deleting data including some information and photos later today.

Good news is, Friendster Support has indicated that its Exporter application, which allows users to save or transfer their files before a cut-off deadline, will still be available until June 27, 2011.

After a number of N months, I checked out my profile again today.
But before hitting the export button, I browsed through my account profile one last time; browsing through my photos, friends list, and blogs.
There I discovered that I have been a Friendster user since October 2003 and had 253 friends. I guess those will be history soon and this was like my farewell ‘profile view’.

Friendster already extended the earlier deadline to late June of this year.
I guess that was the last extension given by Friendster to their old account holders.

Changing the friendster website is like murdering our past. Why have you done that when we still cling to the fact that friendster will be there. I have been browsing it once in a while thinking that the photos and other valuable memories will still be posted and monitored. Now, i am doomed to find out that it has been totally changed into a gaming station whichI can never get into it. I am pissed off by such traumatic changes. Please do something about bringing back our memorabilias. We treasure it a lot.

I’m thinking, would it be a help if we could involve the media and talk show like Kris TV in this serious issue about recovering our friendster data? And talk about the solution and proper process to avoid from happening again such kind of limitation of extesion. Normally the standard deadline should be one (1) year and it is only right to put this open issue into justice.
This is a challenge to any networking company. I hope our voice will be heard by media.

guys c’mon, let’s face it. Friendster won’t stand a chance to compete with Facebook. They’ll just gonna throw away their money if they do. The only thing we can do for now is complain and blog everywhere so our complaints will surely get to where we want it to be. Let’s just hope and pray that there’s some back-up database that haven’t been formatted where our data are stored for safe keeping. The chances are low, but, at least it’s good to know that there’s a possibility to retrieve our data. I, too, needs to retrieve my pictures. It doesn’t hold monetary value but the sentimental value behind those pictures are beyond money they can give. Please support the campaign to bring back our data from the old friendster.

Good day.. What happened with our pics? Friendster should have at least an option for the users to retrieve pictures not giving users an ultimatum or a deadline( that is really sucks ).. Seems that they’re rushing things up.. Are they incompetent with the other Networking site? Ako din po, namromroblema dahil sa mga pictures ko na nawala. Sa Friendster lang ako umasa sa mga pictures. Pagka-upload ko, bura kagad sa drive ko. Tapos, nadidisappoint ako dahil wala silang sapat na dahilan para gawin lahat nito.
Hindi nila kinailangan ng pagbabago. Kung meron man, dapat sinolusyonan niyo na lang. Hindi sapat na i-close ang Friendster sapagkat tulad nga ng iba, kailangan mu lang makipagsabayan sa bago.
Hindi lang kayo nagtiwala sa kakayahan niyo.
May isa po akong naisip na solusyon na magugustuhan ng lahat.
Bakit hindi pu ba i-send nalang sa e-mails namin lahat lahat nu’n para naman po sa naguguilty. Yung iba loyal sa Friendster tapos madadamay sa problema niyo.

I’m thinking, would it be a help if we could involve the media and talk show like Kris TV in this serious issue about recovering our friendster data? And talk about the solution and proper process to avoid from happening again such kind of limitation of extesion. Normally the standard deadline should be one (1) year and it is only right to put this open issue into justice.
This is a challenge to any networking company. I hope our voice will be heard by media.

since i dont usually surf the net i was not updated at all that friendster was going to delete all the information on our old accounts. when i’m on a computer i always check my mails, wonder why i didnt even know that friendster was closing? because they didnt even bother to send any notification. i hate it that i cant even retrieve my photos, blogs, important things on my old friendster account. i even tried to send email to friendster support (new site) but they didnt even bother to reply. no wonder they didnt stay too long because they never care at all.

So many complain about your site, please we are begging you to come back the old friendster account so that we can save of our old picture. Plss we need our old photos.
my grandfather just passed away almost a month ago April 18 2012.
and I’ve noticed that I needed my Grnadpa’s Old pictures I saved on friendster . Could you find a way to retrieve the old friendster back just so we could get our old pictures? I mean I’m not the only one asking this favor but hey I really need to have my lolo’s pictures. please and thank you.

It would not have been very hard to back up at least the old photos, just charge people to retrieve photos. They could have made some serious change if they allowed some type of retrieval system!
i was so sad when friendster end up,, friendster ang pinakauna kong website account at napakamemorable sa akin to,,halos maiyak ako nung mawala, kaya kahit saglit man lang masilayan ko ang old friendster,,at sana, sana, sana man lang ibalik nila un at i costumized na lang pagandahin lalo nila dahil sa totoo lang..friendster ang pinakamagandang account kahit wala itong chat.

Not even a warning? aRent you guys fond of ur members? and just delete our old account? there are good and bad memories with my friendster account…and u guys just made it nightmare!!! tell u the truth, Im proud for having the features of friendster which any other sites doesnt have..but U didnt prove urself worthy for the title… we dont need a new one, without our old account,what would u do with a new page with an empty thing? better just delete your new friendster guys, we all got disappointed!
