Last Day of Old Friendster; Exporter App Extended to June 27

May 31, 2011 – this is the day we never thought would happen to the first social network which revolutionized the idea of social networking years ago – Friendster.

But as they say, nothing lasts forever and things will eventually come to an end.

Once a social media giant, Friendster has formally announced a month ago that it will be stopping its social-networking-related services and deleting data including some information and photos later today.

Good news is, Friendster Support has indicated that its Exporter application, which allows users to save or transfer their files before a cut-off deadline, will still be available until June 27, 2011.

“The Exporter app will be available for an additional month, until June 27. If you need help on how to use the Exporter app, head over to the Friendster help page!“

After nine years, Friendster has acknowledged Facebook’s supremacy in the social networking scene. In reaction to this, Freindster will be reinventing itself into a social music and gaming site which they even consider to be complementary to Facebook’s social networking services.

New Friendster Soon

One of my Friendster Photo I found while browsing. This is Katibawasan Falls in Cagayan De Oro circa 2007.

After a number of N months, I checked out my profile again today.

But before hitting the export button, I browsed through my account profile one last time; browsing through my photos, friends list, and blogs.

There I discovered that I have been a Friendster user since October 2003 and had 253 friends. I guess those will be history soon and this was like my farewell ‘profile view’.
